From the beginning, the adoption of sustainable practices has been present at Pedaços de Cacau, whether in the use of cocoa, packaging, or the production process. Tasting their chocolates is tasting personality with authenticity and high quality.
From engineering to artisan at Pedaços de Cacau. Did the professional change arise from the realization of a dream?

Actually, it was a dream that was born without me realizing it. The seed of Pedaços de Cacau sprouted at Christmas in..." In 2013, I decided to give my family and friends something special and personalized: homemade chocolates. The reactions were incredible! From then on, I got hooked, started signing up for workshops and experimenting. And, as one friend recommended another, a point came when I felt I had to create a brand – and Pedaços de Cacau was born, a dream that came to me and led me to trade 13 years of forestry engineering for the unknown world of chocolate and management. However, the love and concern for nature remain – from the beginning, the raw material we use is Belgian chocolate, sourced from cocoa grown using sustainable practices in West Africa; and we are always trying to improve, particularly in terms of packaging and the production process.

At Pedaços de Cacau, you'll find chocolates made in an artisanal and sustainable way. Is this the secret to making our mouths water?

I believe the real secret lies in the passion and care we put into what we do. That passion is at the heart of everything: from... The choice of ingredients, the creation of new products, the search for sustainable options, our artisanal spirit. And this is felt in our communication and, of course, in the tasting experience of our chocolates.

You have already received national and international awards, in addition to the "Portugal Sou Eu" seal. A sign of authenticity and professional recognition?

That is, in fact, how we interpret the awards we have received, which already exceed ten. And we believe that this recognition is only possible because we embrace our authenticity.

As for the "Portugal Sou Eu" seal, it identifies us as a brand of Portuguese products that incorporate value in Portugal.

How would you characterize the products of "Pedaços de Cacau"?

Above all, authentic (especially since many are personalized). Pedaços de Cacau is an inventive brand of gourmet and artisanal chocolates. All chocolates are made and decorated by hand, using high-quality raw materials.

What can we find in the online store?

In our Our online store offers almost exclusively dark chocolate: our collection of ten vegan bars, chocolates with sweet and fruity fillings, crunchy chocolates in various flavors, and other original or themed products – at this time of year, Christmas chocolates abound, such as Christmas trees and chocolates to hang on the Christmas tree.

What is the biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?

Pedaços de Cacau was a leap into the unknown that changed my life, both professionally and personally. Among a range of challenges that never end, perhaps the biggest is (re)inventing strategies to cope with the seasonality of demand.

What motivates you in making chocolates?

Knowing that, more than just making excellent chocolate, we are providing unique tasting moments to true chocolate lovers.

And, in the case of personalized chocolates, it motivates us to know that we are often fulfilling a dream.
